The SJA Foundation was originally incorporated in 1968 on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge. Its purpose is to preserve the mission and charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, to ensure the permanence and viability of the Academy and to guard the assets of the Academy.
All gifts to the SJA Foundation help perpetuate the high-quality education that is traditionally expected of St. Joseph's Academy. The SJA Foundation provides for the long-term stability of the school and is designed to receive all types of gifts and endowed funds.
Unrestricted Gifts
Unrestricted gifts may come in the form of outright cash gifts to the SJA Foundation or through planned gifts and will be applied where the school leadership and Foundation Board deem best.
Annual Giving
Donations to annual giving provide critical support to bridge the difference between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student.
Honor/Memorial Gifts
These are gifts of any amount given 1) to honor the memory of loved ones and friends or 2) to honor family, friends or business associates on special occasions such as birthdays, baptisms, anniversaries or graduations.
Planned Giving
Planned gifts are deferred gifts that allow donors to make an investment in SJA's future by including the SJA Foundation in their estate planning that includes wills, life insurance policies, trusts, securities and IRA accounts.
Named Endowed Scholarships
Named endowed scholarships are established to commemorate a deceased love one or to honor a living person or family and provide a lasting tribute to the ones they honor. The principal remains secure while the annual interest income provides tuition assistance for deserving SJA students and their families. The base funding requirement for a named endowed scholarship at SJA is $40,000 and is payable over a period of five years.
Endowed Faculty Chairs
Faculty chairs are established
to attract, reward and retain distinguished faculty; provide salary
supplements; provide professional development for faculty; and provide
equipment or materials. The principal of the endowment remains secure
while the annual interest income provides for the benefits listed
above. The base funding requirement for a named endowed faculty chair at SJA is $50,000 and is payable over a period of five years.
