A fun-filled week combining sewing and cooking. This camp will cover essential information for the beginning seamstress while teaching a new technique of appliqué to all participating campers. The camp will begin with the basic introduction of the proper use of the sewing machine (or a refresher for previous campers) and then will dive right into the appliqué technique. Campers will learn to sew and appliqué a design of their choice on a pillow case, make a new apron style and chef hat and finish the week sporting a sun dress. In the second part of this class, campers will learn proper measuring skills along with the basic introduction to the proper use of kitchen utensils. They will cook and bake an array of edibles, from rising dough for homemade “mall pretzels” to old-fashioned popcorn balls. The week will finish with specialty decorated cupcake techniques along with hand-dipped, chocolate-covered specialty items. Campers will model garments and serve desserts during a brief style show for parents on Friday.
